Science really is super cool and so is science fiction. The great strides we’ve been making, this fiction is swiftly becoming a reality.
In the film Gravity (2013), the space shuttle was hit by debris and destroyed. Now, we have a new material developed by scientists at the University of Michigan and NASA where a material can “heal” itself when punctured. Long story short, as the liquid material exposed to air, it hardens and solidifies within seconds. Had something like this been a reality in the film, Sandra Bullock’s character wouldn’t have had nearly such an arduous journey home. Check out the video below:
In addition to this leap in technology, The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), has expanded their their neurotechnological research which has afforded a 28-year old paralyzed man to actually FEEL objects when he touches it with his prosthetic hand. This is such a wonderful breakthrough for anyone who has become paralyzed or lost a limb.
